Medical emergencies do happen and can happen to anyone at any time. The Vial of Life assists emergency personnel in obtaining important medical facts during a crisis at home.

Paramedics and other emergency personnel will look for the Vial of Life symbol. This will indicate that vital information is available to assist them to immediately begin treatment.

The Vial of Life is recognized and effective. Just knowing that you do not take medications or have any chronic medical conditions may be important to paramedics. This information eliminates a number of possible treatments and may result in valuable life saving time.

Using the Vial of Life
Remove contents from the vial and review the materials. Each individual in the house fills out their own medical form and places it back in the vial. If medication or medical conditions change, you’ll need to update the form.

Place the vial inside the refrigerator, on the door. Place the Vial of Life sticker on the outside of the refrigerator door, where it can be easily seen (top right or left corner).

Who should have a Vial of Life?
It’s a good idea for everyone, but particularly for those 60 years or over, living alone, taking medications, or living with a chronic disease or disabling conditions.

Where can I get a Vial of Life?
Vials of Life are made available locally by the Kings Seniors’ Safety Program. To obtain one please contact KSS staff.
